"It's better not to know so much about what things mean or how they might be interpreted or you'll be too afraid to let things keep happening. Psychology destroys the mystery, this kind of magic quality. It can be reduced to certain neuroses or certain things, and since it is now named and defined, it's lost its mystery and the potential for a vast, infinite experience." -David Lynch

So. For shits and giggles, I visited www.entity.4mg.com today. I expected nothing special, as I'd been there a few times in the past year and nothing on the site seemed to work anymore.

However.

Upon clicking the first RealAudio link, RealPlayer started up and played the first minute or so from one of Entity's songs, "Adrenaline."

...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DAMMIT we were good. I've always wanted to hear our old stuff again, but I either misplaced our demo tape, or I lent it to someone and never got it back... - whatever. Anyway, hearing our stuff brought back memories, but more than that, it reinstilled a desire in me to get on the damn drumset and bust that shit out. It's never a comfortable feeling when you realize that an older version of yourself was more skilled than the current version of yourself...and hearing this little piece of a song (which I've listened to over 50 times now) brought to the forefront the fact that I've let myself go. The most painful part of the whole thing, though, is knowing that Andrew, Raudebaugh, and myself have a snowball's chance in hell at reuniting and making such inspiring, kickass music together again. I think I'd be willing to give it a shot, for music's sake...but again, realistically, it's a snowball.

Andrew and John - the two of you are the most talented musicians I've ever had the pleasure of playing with. Thanks for the times, the tunes, and the memories.

If only I could find that damn demo tape. If anyone has any recordings of Entity, please let me know. Grazie...

Go check out www.entity.4mg.com and click on the first RA link. The music you will hear was awesome back then, and is just as good now - probably better, actually, when you consider the (lack of) quality and actual musicianship in most music today.

The bitch only stuck around for less than a year, but she made a hell of an impression. She brought me to life, and I want that life back. Entity is the relationship that I will never get over.

Bands really are just like women.

Good GOD, man. What's up. How ya doin'.

Where are all the ballsy bands? I gotta get my fix...

For a band or artist to have balls, it has to have energy. It can't be depressing. It has to move you - often physically, but lone emotional movement can suffice. It inspires you... - forces you to be an active listener - a participant instead of a mere bystander.

Most of the ballsy bands I've heard fall into some subcategory of rock, but as shown in the list below, bands can be "quieter" and still have balls.

Bands/Artists with Balls (no order)
36 Crazyfists
Anberlin
Atreyu
Jeff Buckley
Glassjaw
Damien Rice
Sum 41
Thornley
Muse
(old/live) doubleDrive
Holotype (featuring Chris Garlandt from the long-defunct WiKiD)
Sevendust

I know that I'm leaving out several other bands. If you've caught my drift, give me some suggestions as to where I can find more balls.

Go adopt a fetus.
