"It's better not to know so much about what things mean or how they might be interpreted or you'll be too afraid to let things keep happening. Psychology destroys the mystery, this kind of magic quality. It can be reduced to certain neuroses or certain things, and since it is now named and defined, it's lost its mystery and the potential for a vast, infinite experience." -David Lynch

Thursday, June 10, 2004 :::

What's my summer consisted of since I've returned from BFE, aka Iowa? Working between 9 and 12 hours each day, Monday through Friday, every week, at Swim Systems.
...And that's it.
In summers past, I would hang out with the guys nearly everyday after work, but it seems that those times are fading fast. Everyone's either moved away or is preoccupied with work and/or school. And that's fine, 'cuz we can't be kids forever...but IS that fine? I miss the way things were. It needs to be resurrected - at least to a degree that will provoke a comforting sense of nostalgia. Remember: percussion practice...WiKiD practice...Entity practice...Absent practice...watching porn instead of Absent practice...performances...going to shows at HOB and Hard Rock Live...random visits to Downtown Disney and Citywalk...eating at Anthonys...watching horrible movies in what used to be Will's room...making prank calls with the phones at the mall... - I guess it's just that now, enough time has passed to have me realize that certain memories are incapable of reenactment. Frank, it's awesome that things seem to finally be coming together for you, but honestly, I wish you were here. Same sorta thing goes for Brian - I'm stoked that you're being schooled in an area of work that enthuses you, but I want to jam with you! It seems that in one way or another, each one of us is busier than he/she used to be...and in our society (even our world, perhaps), this phenomenon is a part of life - all I'm saying is that there are several moments throughout my day when I wish that it wasn't. Guys, we need to hang out. Soon. Let's make it happen.

My actual 21st birthday is six days from today. This coming Wednesday, the Man will deem me worthy of hanging out with Mr. Cohol in public. Also, it is the final particularly exciting birthday that will occur for the rest of my existence - 40 is the only other one that stands out, and history doesn't hold that one to be especially happy. I believe Will is planning a little something...and I'd love for you to help celebrate with us...so contact him and we'll do it up.

In other news, www.themoviebox.net has become my favorite movie site. The newest trailers and updates can be found here before any other sites get ahold of 'em. I've added a link in place of the old IMDB link, so be sure to click every so often to see what's new in Hollywood (and the indie scene, actually).

New Found Glory's "Catalyst" is a ROCKIN' album - my favorite from them thus far. Gets better each time I listen, whereas NFG's previous albums quickly became worn out. Pick up Catalyst for $9.99 at Best Buy - it's a great record for summer fun.

The new Harry Potter is the best Potter yet...but it brought me to the conclusion that overall, I'm just not a big Harry Potter fan. Don't get me wrong - the movies are done well enough...but there are too few moments in the plots where I go "whoa;" nothing really strikes me. Kill Bill (the full movie) struck me every 5 minutes or less, and continues to do so. GOD I love that movie.

SAVED! comes out tomorrow, and looks damn good, too. If you haven't seen a preview yet, check out The Movie Box link at the top of my blog and find it from there. I'll be out of town this weekend, but I'd love to see it when I get back. Anyone interested?
Also out in theaters will be Napoleon Dynamite, which looks hilarious. Again, check out The Movie Box. I don't think it'll be playing nearby until after a few more weeks, but I MUST see it. The lead reminds me so much of John Woodward...and if you know John, that means that the movie is gonna be a riot.
Did you know that there's a documentary about Scrabble out in theaters? Well, there is - Word Wars - but it's not playing anywhere around here. Damned limited releases... - Frank, you're one lucky guy - I hope you're taking advantage of the opportunity to see these movies that the rest of us must wait until DVD for.
Anyway, go to The Movie Box and CHECK OUT THE PREVIEWS.

That's enough to chew on for now, though it seems that no one really visits here anymore...but that's okay. I never started this thing to get comments...but, of course, it's always nice to hear from whoever takes the time to read.
Babe - I hope you have a great time this weekend - wish I could share the sunsets with you, but know that while you're experiencing them, I'm thinking of you, looking forward to the next time we're together. I love and miss you very much...

Hope to see everyone soon! Ci vediamo!
